Microsoft showcases its new Surface products
Microsoft has given us a glimpse inside its new Surface product line and critics are describing the slick hardware as some of the most impressive in the industry.
TECH giant Microsoft launched its new line of Surface products at an event in New York this week and critics are claiming they’re some of the best hardware in the industry right now.
Journalists flocked to yesterday’s event to hear what the company had in store for its customers. What they were presented with were product upgrades as well as a new pair of headphones that critics are calling some of the best in the industry.
If you’re a Microsoft fan, or thinking of making the switch from Mac, here’s what you need to know about the new Surface series expected to come to our shores in the coming months.
SURFACE HEADPHONES
Microsoft designed a pair of over-the-ear wireless headphones with Bluetooth connectivity. The cool thing about these headphones is its adjustable noise cancellation capability. Turning the dial on your left ear cup gives you total control over how much outside noise is let in. They also have in built hands-free voice commands and will pause whatever you’re listening to as soon as the device is removed from your head. They will set you back around $500 and won’t be available in Australia for several months.
SURFACE PRO 6
Microsoft’s laptop/tablet hybrid got a revamp and now features an 8th Generation Intel Core processor that the company says makes it 67 per cent faster than its predecessor. It’s super light (770 grams) and boasts about 13.5 hours of battery life. It has a built-in kick stand and a keyboard cover that comes in a variety of colours. The tablet starts about $1,300 and is now available in a matt black colour as well as platinum.
SURFACE LAPTOP 2
As the name suggests, this is the sequel to Microsoft’s Surface laptop, launched last year. It has a 13.5 inch screen, the same 8th gen processor, offers an hour more battery life than the Surface Pro 6 and weighs about 1.25kg. The design team have also added a matt black colour option to this as well. The laptop will set you back around $1,500.
SURFACE STUDIO 2
This creative design platform made a huge splash when it was first released onto the market in late 2016, but it was long overdue for an upgrade. Microsoft launched the Surface Studio 2, a new and improved digital platform for artists, video producers, architects, photographers and other creatives. The new device boasts a 50 per cent improvement in graphic performance and a 38 per cent increase in display brightness. The Surface Studio 2 starts at $5,500.
