Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet still on the way, despite legal battle with Apple
SAMSUNG says it will still launch its new Galaxy 10.1 tablet locally despite a court battle with Apple over patent infringement.
SAMSUNG is pressing ahead with its plan to launch its Galaxy 10.1 tablet locally despite a Federal Court order prohibiting the sale of a variant in Australia.
The Korean electronics giant said Apple filed a complaint in the courts over a product it didn't intend on selling in Australia.
Apple yesterday obtained a court order as part of its bid to halt Samsung’s sales of its successful smartphones and tablets internationally.
In the Federal Court, Justice Annabelle Bennett ordered Samsung not to "import, promote, offer to supply, supply, offer for sale or sell in Australia the Galaxy Tab 10.1 device".
Samsung also was ordered to supply Apple with three samples of the version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet it intends selling in Australia.
However Samsung this afternoon said the version of the Galaxy Tab subject to the court agreement was not the version the Korean supplier intended placing on the Australian market.
A version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 destined for the Australian market would be released in the near future, Samsung said.
