Panasonic’s new ES-LS9A six-blade shaver has converted me — and I’ve decided to throw away my cheap disposable razors.

Time is money – and convenience is king when you’re in a rush.

I checked out Panasonic’s new ES-LS9A six-blade shaver and it really makes the chore of shearing much more convenient.

So much so, that I’ve finally thrown away my set of cheap blue razors.

I’m not the hairiest of blokes, but I do need a touch-up every couple of days – and it’s important to look your best, especially at the office.

Japanese manufacturers are known for their excellence in consumer electronics and this product exemplifies that.

Panasonic has actually taken a leaf out of Japanese history and utilised techniques from the Samurai sword-making traditions.

It made the blades with surgical-grade stainless steel – which keeps them super sharp while reducing skin irritation and redness.

The ES-LS9A has two thick stubble blades coated with titanium, along with two finish blades and two lift blades – all designed to cut more hair on one pass.

Another way Panasonic has improved the shaver is by angling the inner blades to a 30-degree angle, which means the blades cut as close as possible to the root of the hair.

Importantly, for someone with a sharp angular jaw like myself, the shaver uses a flexible shaver head with a floating blade mechanism that helps guide the machine over the contours of your face and neck. There’s also a sensor that adapts the power to suit your face contours.

Panasonic said the shaver uses magnetic levitation technology (which is an area a bit beyond my expertise) to deliver 4000 cross-cutting actions per minute.

A pop-up trimmer is also included which can be used for a pre-shave or to trim sideburns neatly.

Aside from the convenience and a close shave, I really like the auto-cleaning charging station that comes with the ES-LS9A.

The dock removes hair (along with skin oil) from the shaver and also sterilises it. It’s really easy to use, just plug in and go.

All that cutting-edge Japanese tech isn’t cheap though, the ES-LS9A retails for $899. But if you’ve got some coin lying around I reckon it’s worth it.

There are also some cheaper models around like the ES-LT4B-A841 and ES-LT2BW841 which sell in the $330-380 range.

Shaving used to be an ordeal: it would take ages and I would end up with cuts all over my face. Now I can get a close shave, problem free, in just minutes.
