Social media reacts to biggest Spotify update in a decade
Spotify users have woken up to a startling change in the app’s interface that has left many confused.
Spotify users have reported feeling confused after waking up to discover app developers made a dramatic change to the platform design.
One major shift that has drawn emotional reactions is the loss of the “cute little heart” icon used to add a track to their “liked songs” library.
Users opening up the app to check the latest weekly releases were left dumbfounded searching for the heart symbol only to discover it has been replaced.
The new “+” icon has the same function but adds a second step to the process in which users have to select which playlist they want to add the song to.
Hordes of people took to social media to react to the change with many saying they were happy with how it was.
“Why would you get rid of the heart???,” one Twitter user wrote.

“The checkmate and plus sign is ugly.”
“Why did Spotify get rid of the cute heart like button and replace it with a plus sign,” a third said.
Spotify announced the software update was the biggest change to the platform since 2013.
Among the other features set to join the update, but yet to arrive on some Australian mobile devices is a new home feed which mimics platforms like TikTok with scrollable visual feeds to sample audio before diving in.
