Netflix offline releases improved download app feature for Android smartphones
EVERYONE’S favourite video streaming service has an amazing new download feature, but iPhone users - and there are lots of them - won’t be able to use it.
NETFLIX will let you store many more series and films to watch when you’re offline.
But only if you use an Android phone.
The streaming site has updated its app to let viewers store media on microSD cards.
This puts to bed any storage grumbles from Netflix fans.
They were granted the ability to save films to watch when not connected to the web — when commuting on the tube, for example — at the end of last year.
But there were complaints that people couldn’t save enough shows on their phone.
Not all Android handsets with a microSD card slot will work, according to Netflix.
But because Apple is unlikely to add a microSD slot anytime soon, Apple fans will be stuck with internal storage while Android users will be able to load up content on their micro SD cards.
There are certain products on the market that add microSD support to iPhones via the lightning port such the Lexar plug-in as well as Apple’s even more cumbersome version. But realistically, they don’t offer a long-term solution.
