Lovestruck musician pops question with iPhone theatre commercial

LOVESTRUCK musician produced iPhone commercial clip to propose to his girlfriend.

THERE are plenty of things you can do with an iPhone, but one musician chose to take it a step further and produced an iPhone commercial clip proposing to his girlfriend.

There is an app for testing the strength of your relationship, a calendar to remember your anniversary, and if you are Chad Clay, you can use it to get engaged, myFOXtwincities.com reported Monday.

In a proposal that is guaranteed to make any girl swoon and has already gone viral on YouTube, Mr Clay designed what looked to be an iPhone commercial but was in fact a nearly-five-minute testament to his love for his girlfriend.

He arranged to have the fake commercial shown before the movie he and fiancee Vy Luong were going to see - in the same theatre where the two had shared their first date in 2004.

"I didn't know it was to me until my picture came up," Ms Luong said. "When it says, 'Vy will you marry me?' I just burst out with tears."

It took the budding musician about four months to write the song and produce the video.

He said the easiest part was getting the movie theatre to play along. While most people ignore coming attractions, Mr Clay told his girlfriend of six years that a mutual friend was being featured in one of the movie trailers.

The YouTube video has garnered 250,000 hits so far and hundreds of comments, scoring Mr Clay major points for creativity. The couple is now planning a wedding for next summer.

"It's pretty crazy," he said. "I never expected all that to happen. We just put it up for our friends and family to see.
