iPhone 14 expected to launch at special event on September 8

Apple has dropped a giant hint at when consumers will get their first look at the iPhone 14, and it is sooner than most expected.

New iPhone expected to be released soon

“Far out.”

That is the two-word slogan Apple used to tease a “special event” at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California next month where it is widely expected that consumers will get their first look at the iPhone 14.

In an invitation sent out on Wednesday, the tech giant used an Apple logo in what appears to be stars or galaxies.

The event will take place on September 7 at 10am local time in California — or 3am on September 8 AEST — and will likely include the launch of both the highly-anticipated new phone and a new Apple Watch.

The invitation to select media does not say exactly what can be expected at the event, but previous launches, which have also been held in September, have been teased in a similar way.

A new model iPhone SE with 5G was revealed at Apple's March 2022 launch event.
A new model iPhone SE with 5G was revealed at Apple's March 2022 launch event.

It comes after an iPhone 14 leak in February revealed a huge upgrade.

According to MacRumours, the iPhone 14 will feature 8GB of RAM – the most memory ever offered in an iPhone.

That would make the mobile faster and more adept at handling multiple apps at once, as well as better at running games such as Fortnite.

The news was broken in a post from the account “yeux1122” on the Korean blog Naver, The Sun reports.

According to MacRumours, the self-proclaimed Apple insider has previously made accurate claims about the firm’s upcoming products.

“Citing supply chain sources, the post claims that the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌’s memory components have now been confirmed,” MacRumours said.

They show that the iPhone 14 will come with u to 8GB of RAM, up from the 6GB of RAM offered with last year’s iPhone 13 Pro.

The claim lines up with reports from analyst Jeff Pu, who late last year similarly claimed that the iPhone 14 will offer up to 8GB of RAM.

Last year’s line-up didn’t change much from the 2020 offering.

That means 2022 is shaping up to be a blockbuster year for the iPhone.

In January, Apple expert and top analyst Jeff Pu detailed his expectations for the devices.

Pu claimed that there will be four new iPhone models.

That’s in keeping with previous years, although with a slightly different format.

Last year we had the iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

This year we’re expecting the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
