iPhone 13 rumours: Apple could include 1TB storage, 120Hz display, stronger Magsafe

It’s one of the most frustrating messages you can get on your iPhone, but the next line of devices out of Silicon Valley could make it a thing of the past.

Anyone who’s used an iPhone for an extended period of time has probably come across one of the most annoying issues the devices can face, that you only find out about when it’s too late.

The iPhone has always had a camera, and over the years the devices included imaging capabilities only improved, to the point where most people now rely on their smartphone rather than carrying a separate digital camera.

While the quality of the images has improved, one persistent problem has remained: Where can you store them all?

Eventually your iPhone can get full, and the company has never given people a way to upgrade their storage with a micro SD card, as rival brands have in the past.

While the company does offer iCloud for backups and off-device storage, you only get 5GB of space before you have to pay extra each month.

The next range of iPhones could make this a thing of the past by offering previously unheard of amounts of storage in the Apple smartphone.

Rumours suggest Apple could offer a 1TB model in the next range of iPhones.

That’s almost double the 512GB of storage the current range tops out at.

While it’s yet to be confirmed Apple will offer a 1TB iPhone, if it does it will likely be restricted to the Pro devices, as larger storage tiers currently are.

It’s possible it might even be restricted to only the bigger Pro Max as well.

Rumours first emerged through leaker Jon Prosser, whom despite his occasional wins has had a spotty track record at best on his recent predictions.

His report has now been backed up by one from supply chain analysts at Wedbush suggesting Apple will opt for the big boost to storage.

The company has previously offered 1TB of storage in its iPad Pro devices.

Currently the iPhone 12 tops out at 256GB and the iPhone 12 Pro at 512GB.

While the phones aren’t expected to arrive for at least another six months, rumours are swirling in anticipation.

Other predicted features include the return of Touch ID, as the coronavirus pandemic forcing many people to wear masks nerfs the Face ID option for unlocking your phone.

Some have also predicted some of the new phones will include displays with a higher refresh rate, which allows for smoother performance in gaming, like on Apple’s Arcade service.

Apple introduced a magnetic accessory platform called Magsafe in the iPhone 12.

Fans of smaller phones might be feeling a little edgy about rumours that Apple might not offer the smaller iPhone mini again, but that’s yet to be confirmed.

Other leaks have suggested the “notch” along the top of the phone that houses the front facing camera and an array of sensors could also be slimmed down to create more screen real estate.

The iPhone 12 came with an updated design that revived the squared off edges of the iPhone 4, that has also made its way to iPad in recent years.

It’s expected that design will remain similar.

Despite concerns it could interfere with people’s pacemakers, Apple is expected to actually increase the strength of the magnets in the new phones to continue pushing the Magsafe accessory platform it introduced in the iPhone 12.

Those hoping the next models will once again include a charger in the box shouldn’t hold their breath.
