Sony reveals selfie camera shaped like a perfume bottle

EAU behave! Sony has teased a new camera designed for selfies and it’s shaped like a perfume bottle. If you’re asking why, you’re not alone.

SONY usually has a nose for good design but its latest creation could kick up a stink — a compact camera in the shape of a perfume bottle that’s designed for selfies.

Its new Cyber-shot camera, aimed at the Chinese market, is capitalising on the popularity of the selfie among its Asian demographic and the growing trend of people using cases on their smartphones that look like Chanel No 5 perfume bottles.

Sony is trying to channel Chanel with its new snapper.

To look like your average bottle of spray the gadget comes with clear casing at the top that houses a large lens, which can be swivelled around to capture more than just your grinning mug. People first caught a whiff of this intriguing design after Chinese models, socialites and personalities were seen showing it off by posting photos of them using it.

There’s a lot of this going on in China.

This is not the first Sony product aimed at selfie addicts with the Xperia C3 smartphone released in July that has a five-megapixel camera on the front with a wide field of view to get more of your face and background in.

Its specs have yet to be revealed but it’s being teased on Sony’s official Chinese website and the full details will be revealed on August 22. Sadly, we won’t hold much hope for this to make an appearance in Australia.
