Snapchat launches $230 flying camera drone
Popular social media platform Snapchat has launched its first-ever flying camera drone that will set customers back a fair amount.
Snapchat have launched a limited edition flying selfie drone to take the ‘power and magic of the Snap camera to new heights’.
The tool named Pixy, is a pocket-sized camera designed to follow you around and take photos and videos during flight, before floating back into the palm of your hand.
The social media giant said the device is a new way for customers to use the Snapchat camera for “self expression and communication”.
“With the simple tap of a button, Pixy flies in four preset flight paths. It can float, orbit and follow wherever you lead, without a controller or any set-up,” the company said in a blogpost.
“Videos from flights are wireless transferred and saved into Snapchat Memories. From there, use Snapchat’s editing tools, Lenses and Sounds to customise what you capture.”
With a few taps, users can automatically edit the footage and share them to a chat, Stories, Spotlight or any other platform.
The drone is available in the United States and France with prices starting from $US230 ($A325), but customers are encouraged to check local drone regulations before purchasing.
There are two flight packs available that include a strap to carry the drone, battery and a charging cord.
The bundled pack will set customers back $US250 ($A350) by including an extra charger and rechargeable battery.
