DO you ever feel outnumbered by Apple fans? Maybe it's because you're in Australia.

A new report on mobile web usage shows Aussies are some of the world's biggest Apple fans, with a far greater percentage of iPhone users than the US.

The report, based on data from statcounter.com, shows which handsets are used to surf the web in different regions around the world.

For example, in Africa, the majority of people who access the web on a phone are using handsets running software made by Nokia.

In North America, Apple's iPhone leads the way, but there's plenty of people using BlackBerrys and handsets with Google's Android as well.

However when it comes to Australia, the iPhone is way, way out in front.

According to the statcounter.com figures, more than 70 per cent of all mobile web surfers in Oceania and Australia use an iPhone.

Nokia, BlackBerry and Android account for about 10 per cent or less each.

The report goes on to name Australia as the country with the fourth highest share of iPhone web traffic, after Canada, Cuba and Switzerland.

What the numbers suggest is that Apple's share of the smartphone market in Australia is much bigger than it is in the US — however they are only a rough guide.

The figures could also mean that BlackBerry and Android users don't access the web as much as their iPhone counterparts.

The only nation where Android was recorded as the most popular mobile OS for web surfing was South Korea.

The data was recorded by statcounter.com during the month of October.
