The body of a woman has been found in floodwaters in NSW’s Central West as emergency services continue the search for another missing person.

Police are yet to formally identify the woman but believe it is missing 60-year-old Dianne Smith, who was last heard from when driving in Eugowra on Monday morning.

The town is located 344km west of Sydney, and floodwaters have seeped into every home in the area.

Ljubisa “Les” Vugec, an 85-year-old grandfather, remains missing after last being seen at his home in Eugowra on Monday morning.

Mr Vugec is described as being of caucasian appearance, between 180-185cm tall, of medium build, with grey hair and brown eyes.

Eugowra resident Don Taylor said the force of floodwaters that smashed into the town was “like a tsunami” and ripped homes from their foundations.

“It was basically a small tsunami of water but it had a heck of a lot of force,” Mr Taylor told the Today show.

“By the time I managed to get my gumboots on, the water was up to my thighs.”

NSW SES volunteers performed 150 flood rescues in the 24 hours after floods ripped through the town earlier this week, with almost one in five residents stranded on rooftops.
