The Viking apocalypse is coming. Could this be our last week on Earth?
WE’VE survived the asteroid hurtling towards us but we’re not through the woods yet because the Earth is now about to split open this weekend.
IT’S been a hairy week to say the least. Just when you thought it was safe to come out of hiding we’ve now got the Viking apocalypse to contend with.
The asteroid that was hurtling towards us passed by without too much of a sweat but now, according to Norse mythology, February 22 will see the Earth split open and unleash the inhabitants of Hel.
That means we’ve got until the end of the week before the end is nigh. We haven’t even seen what happens in House of Cards yet.
Ragnarok is the final predicted battle where the wolf Fenrir will break out of his prison, the snake Jormungand will rise out of the sea, ice giants and the dragon of the underworld will come out and the dead heroes of Valhalla will descend from heaven to fight them. So, if you’re planning a picnic that day, you might want to think twice.
Modern day Viking warriors (believers of this Norse prophecy who dress up and swing wooden swords) have already begun preparing for Ragnarok by converging on the historic UK town of York to celebrate the JORVIK festival.
Not wanting to take on a Norse god or anything but we wouldn’t worry too much about the world coming to an end in such a fashion, so please keep the pillaging to a minimum.
