SOUTH Australia copped a battering as the worst storm in years struck, causing the power cuts to the entire state.
Adelaide, Whyalla, Port Augusta, Hawker, Port Pirie, Clare, Roxby Downs and Leigh Creek all bore the brunt of the monster storm which left tens of thousands of people without power.
South Australians were warned to ensure all heating, cooking and other appliances were switched off as the storm hit.
The blackout came as torrential rain and winds of 87km/h lashed the state, hitting Adelaide at midday yesterday.
While the state descended into travel chaos, and people were left in the dark, hundreds on social media revealed how it was affecting them.
Most tried to look on the brighter side of things, while others tweeted ominous pictures of the storm approaching.
