Conspiracy theorists go wild over bizarre secret ‘town’ discovered underwater

A creepy scene of tables, chairs and antennas mysteriously positioned on the sea floor in the middle of the ocean has sent conspiracy theorists wild.

The jaw-dropping discovery was shared to TikTok channel Secrets on Google Earth over the weekend and left thousands of people bamboozled at the eerie sight.

Man-made structures that looked like they could be part of a makeshift underwater town were shown in the video, which has been viewed almost five million times in just three days.

The abandoned items were located in Gulf of Mexico waters off the coast of Florida, near a place called Snapper Ledge Reef.

More than 10,000 people shared theories speculating what the peculiar objects were doing in such an unexpected location.

“They are Wi-Fi antennas for the fish,” one wrote in a comment, with others arguing the spot could be the final resting place for mystical creatures.

“Nothing to see here, just a mermaid cemetery. Carry on,” someone, who received 17,000 likes, wrote.

“That’s where they film SpongeBob,” another joked.

Others pointed out how scarily similar the objects looked to above-water structures.

“Those look like power line poles under water,” one person said.

Some urged the creator of the video to not unearth such suspicious things, suggesting there was a sinister reason such places were kept hidden.

“Hey, let what’s in the ocean, stay in the ocean,” they wrote.

Many correctly guessed the true purpose of the town-like underwater scene – it serves as a coral nursery helping to regenerate ocean plant life from coral bleaching.

Snapper Ledge is a small coral reef within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary which is home to the Florida Reef, the only barrier coral reef in North America and third largest in the world.

Like at the Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of Queensland, coral has suffered due to high ocean water temperatures and increased UV radiation.
