Protesters storm Scott Morrison’s front yard with powerful message

Lismore flood survivors have delivered a powerful message at the front gates of Scott Morrison’s Sydney residence.

A protest is under way at the gates of Scott Morrison’s Sydney residence on Monday to protest the federal government’s response to the northern NSW flood crisis.

At least nine Lismore residents have transported a tip truck full of flood-damaged possessions to be dumped outside harbourside Kirribilli House.

The protesters arrived around 7.30am on Monday morning and parked their truck within metres of the Prime Minister’s home.

Australian Federal Police and local police units have blocked the road at Kirribilli Ave, making it impossible for the truck to drive directly up to the gates.

Kudra Falla-Ricketts, the now 24-year-old activist who ran as the Greens candidate for the federal seat of Page in 2016, was among the protesters.

“I don‘t want this to happen to anyone else,” she told the Today show on Monday.

“It’s been so traumatic for me and everyone that I love.”

Radio station 2GB reported that Mr Morrison left his residence earlier on Monday and was not at home.

“(He has) done the same thing as he did when he was in Lismore. He didn’t want to talk to us. He doesn’t want to speak to us again. I can see that. It’s time he starts to listen to us,” Ms Falla-Ricketts said.

Undeterred, the protesters have instead taken to carrying items – including a rug, chairs and Elmo soft toy – to the front gates of the residence.

The protesters say Mr Morrison is responsible for the flood because of his ongoing inaction on the climate crisis.

A front door has been turned into a makeshift sign with a message scrawled across it that reads, “Morrison, your climate mega flood destroyed our homes”.
