Brisbane, Sydney set for sunshine as Perth braces for rain

IT might still be winter in some states, but parts of the east coast are about to experience a sharp rise in temperature.

IT really is a tale of two states.

In one corner we have Queensland which is experiencing springlike conditions, and in the other there’s Western Australia which is bracing for damaging winds and potential flooding.

Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River, Augusta and Manjimup and parts of Perth and surrounds are expected to be hit by winds of up to 100km/h as wild weather hits the state’s southwest.

The Bureau of Meteorology told news.com.au that a series of cold fronts will bring gusty winds, rain and storms.

The winds are not as expected to be as severe in Perth, but the city isn’t escaping all of the bad weather either.

Perth can expect 19C today with showers and possible storms, 19C and showers tomorrow and 17C and showers on Tuesday.

Temperatures are not expected to get over 15C in the next few days in Albany and parts of the state’s southwest.

But while it’s feeling miserable and wintry on the west coast, further east things are looking and feeling far more springlike.

New South Wales and Queensland in particular are in for a balmy weekend with even warmer temperatures expected later in the week.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting temperatures to reach the high 20s next week with a maximum of 30C predicted for Wednesday and Thursday.

Brisbane last reached a maximum of 30C in August in 2009.

The current warmer weather is being caused by north westerly winds from the centre of Queensland.

Here’s how the weather is looking for the rest of the country over the next few days.

Sydney: 21C today, 23C tomorrow, 24C on Tuesday.

Melbourne: 18C today, 19C tomorrow and 16C on Tuesday.

Brisbane: 26C today, 26C tomorrow and 28C on Tuesday.

Adelaide: 21C today, 21C tomorrow and 18C tomorrow.

Hobart: 13C today, 15C tomorrow and 16C on Tuesday.
