INCREDIBLE photos have captured the moments an entire Queensland town is engulfed by a huge dust storm.
The south-western town of Bedourie’s name actually means “dust storm”, but its 110 residents had never seen anything like the enormous cloud that rolled in on Thursday afternoon.
Local Jade Smith captured the dust cloud on camera from her backyard.
“I’ve lived here for 27 years and I’ve never see anything like this,” she told news.com.au.
“It was all grey at first. I thought it was just a cloud and as it was coming in, it was just getting darker and darker and darker.
“All of a sudden it just went red and it just took over the town.”
Tourism officer Maggie Den Ronden also got some amazing snaps. She said it turned the town from day to night.
Locals hoped the dust storm would be followed by some rain.
“We weren’t so lucky.”
