Elon Musk ships millions of dollars worth of new technology to Ukraine
The world’s richest man Elon Musk has deployed millions of dollars worth of emergency internet technology to war-torn Ukraine.
Ukrainians have been gifted a meaningful beacon of hope from the world’s richest man Elon Musk as the country continues its battle against Vladimir Putin’s Russian army.
The war-torn country received millions of dollars worth of Mr Musk’s Starlink Rapid Deployment Kits this week to assist in its emergency communications.
Ukraine’s vice prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov took to Twitter on Thursday to express his gratitude.
“Received the second shipment of Starlink stations! Elon Musk keeps his word! Thank you for supporting Ukraine and peace in the entire world!” he wrote.
A few hours later, Mr Musk himself responded, saying the country would have also received a bundle of other emergency supplies.

“You’re welcome. We have also sent power adaptors for car cigarette lighters, solar/battery packs and generators for places where electricity is not available,” he wrote.
Mr Musk has also announced Ukrainians employed by his car company Tesla would be paid for up to three months if they returned to their country to fight in the war, CNBC reported.
The offer was reportedly made in an email distributed to employees in the Europe, Middle East and Africa on Monday.
It has yet to be clarified if the same offer will be extended to the company’s employees in North America or other parts of the world.
Free Supercharging was also offered for Ukraine’s 5000 Tesla drivers at stations in Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, given Tesla doesn’t officially operate within Ukraine.
It’s not the first time he’s reached into his own – very deep – pocket to help out in a crisis.
He responded to a call from Mick Fanning on Wednesday after the surfing legend asked the multi-billionaire for help with the Queensland and northern NSW floods.
“Elon Musk we need help with the flood disaster in NSW, Australia. The people have no means of communication and really need your help! Can you help us with Starlink? How can we make it happen? Please share,” Fanning tweeted.
By Wednesday, more than 10 of the Starlink kits, each worth about $10,000, had been received in northern NSW.
The technology, developed by SpaceX, serves as a satellite internet service allowing people to connect to the internet by linking to low orbit satellites shot into space by Mr Musk.
Starlink last year partnered with telecommunications provider NetVault, which has representatives delivering technology to flood-torn areas in QLD and NSW.
