Act now: Today you need to turn off Apple Music or start monthly payments

IF you don’t want to start paying for Apple Music, you need to turn it off — right now. Here is what to do today.

Stop Apple Music from automatically charging your credit card

IT’s deadline day. You need to act now or tomorrow you could find yourself forking out the first of the monthly payments for a service you do not want.

When Apple launched its Apple Music streaming service, it offered three months of free service. If you signed up on that first day, then today the free ride comes to an end.

From tomorrow, the early adopters for the free music service switch to automatic monthly payments — $11.99 for an individual or $17.99 for a family.

The trick for many Apple users is that they have probably forgot they ever signed up — and will not remember until they see the charge on next month’s credit card statement.

Don’t want Apple Music? Fine, just tune out.

Here is how you opt out of Apple Music in four simple steps:

1. Open the Music app on your iPhone or iPad and tap on the account icon in the top left corner — it looks like the silhouette of a head.

2. Tap on “View Apple ID”.

3. Scroll down to “Manage”, which is under the Subscriptions heading.

4. In the Membership area, hit the toggle button next to Automatic Renewal to turn it off.
