Olympic silver medallist David Morris has performance problem during drug test

AFTER winning an Olympic silver medal, Australia’s David Morris struggles to perform when it matters ... during the drug test.

WHEN you’ve gotta go to drug testing, you’ve gotta go.

David Morris had just 60 minutes to get to mandatory drug testing after his stunning silver medal in the men’s aerials at the Sochi Winter Olympics two nights ago.

There was just one wee problem. The 29-year-old was dehydrated after his exhilarating string of four successful jumps and couldn’t do the business.

“I had like a bottle of Powerade, a bottle of Coke because it’s got caffeine in it, then I started a second bottle of Powerade, I was just bursting on the inside,” Morris said.

But not bursting on the outside, sadly.

Morris had made it to the drug testing rooms in time, so that wasn’t an issue. One you’re there you get all the time you need. Problem is, the jubilant 29-year-old was desperate to see his family and go out to celebrate.

“Ashley my physio was with me and she’s like ‘let’s get this done’, let’s get to your party’.

Unfortunately Dave’s body wouldn’t co-operate.

That’s when the drug testing official had a good idea. He turned the tap on, in the hope that the dripping water sound would encourage nature to take its course.

Still nothing. By this stage he must have been going potty.

Morris has done drug testing numerous times, so he wasn’t fazed by the intimate surrounds where the drug testing official watches his every move.

“They have to watch because people used to cheat the system, pulling out a catheter and all sorts of things. The first time it’s really weird but now it’s like ‘I don’t even care, whatever, I just want to go to my party’.”

“I’m perfectly clean and it does make you realise they are looking after the sport, so I’m all for it, it’s good.”

An hour and a half after Morris entered that little mountain hut, the dam finally burst.

“That was like the longest 90 minutes of my life,” he said. “I just sat there for ages, filled out all the forms, it was a disaster. Still, in Vancouver it took like two hours. I tried to get it done in under two hours here and I did.”

So basically, you’d have to say he set a new “pee B”.
