REBEL Olympic dad Bruce Brockhoff has issued a humiliating apology for his attack on snowboarder Alex “Chumpy” Pullin.

REBEL Olympic dad Bruce Brockhoff has issued a humiliating apology for his attack on snowboarder Alex “Chumpy” Pullin.

Silver-medal winning snowboarder Torah Bright also admitted she had created the #teamoutcast outsiders’ club with other snowboarders, which has exposed divisions within Australia’s Olympic team.

“I am speechless — I’m appalled, actually,’’ Bright said of Mr Brockhoff’s explosive email, in which he claimed Pullin had received $1 million in funding while his daughter, Belle Brockhoff, only received $38,000.

She said she had only started the group to support athletes who were “an outcast like (Sydney schoolboy) Jarryd Hughes”, who is racing against Pullin.

“For some reason it has been turned into someone else’s agenda and I’m not going to have any part of that because they’re using me and this silly little hashtag for their own agenda,’’ she said.

News_Rich_Media: Bruce Brockhoff, father of Australian boardercross athlete Belle, has questioned the favourable funding given to Alex 'Chumpy' Pullin over other athletes on the eve of the two-time world champion's race in Sochi.

Mr Brockhoff, whose daughter finished eighth in the snowboard cross, said he wanted to apologise to his family for his outburst, only hours before Pullin was scheduled to race for gold at Sochi.

“It was never my intention to upset the men’s boarder cross event nor any one of the contestants, especially Alex “Chumpy” Pullin, Jarryd Hughes nor Cam Bolton on the Australian team,’’ he said.

“I apologise to all those who feel they have been offended including family,’’ he said.

But he admitted the timing of his explosive email had been to “gain maximum publicity hot on the heels of my daughter Belle’s race at her first Olympics”.

“To delay this email I felt would lessen its impact,’’ he said.

He said he wanted to “point out the reasons” why snowboarders including Bright, Hughes and Scotty James had felt the need to form an outsiders’ group called #teamoutcast.

“My wife and I have had a long-running battle with the OWIA (Olympic Winter Institute of Australia) and the Australian Olympic Committee ... in their recognition of Belle’s achievements and appropriate funding over the previous northern winter’s world cup circuit,’’ he said.
