American bobsledder Lolo Jones deletes video criticising food in Sochi’s Olympic Village
LOLO Jones is rather prolific on Instagram, as you’d expect from an athlete with such a big following. But her latest post would have made Olympic organisers a little uncomfortable.
AMERICAN bobsledder Lolo Jones isn’t happy with the food she’s being served in Sochi’s Olympic Village.
Jones recently posted a video on Instagram which showed her eating some of the “food” in the Olympians’ cafeteria. The stew-like substance been described as “re-manufactured dog food”, among other things.
AT LEAST HER TAPWATER ISN’T YELLOW
“Just pretend it’s a nice, juicy steak,” Jones said in the clip.
She was also shown asking teammate Jazmine Fenlator “You gonna eat your cornbread?”, in a reference to that famous scene from the film Life.
You know the one. Come on. Ah whatever, here’s the scene we’re talking about.
Jones’s Instagram video has now been deleted, suggesting someone with a bit of heft was unhappy with the athlete’s not-quite-veiled criticism.
This week, Fenlator told USA Today the food really isn’t that bad anyway.
“It’s great the variety they have and you can make a mix,” she said.
“She’s being PG,” Jones interrupted. “She’s being real PG. People always ask why there’s a McDonald’s in the Olympic Village, and I think it’s clear why ... You just make do.”
AND AT LEAST HER BATHROOM DOESN’T LOOK LIKE THIS
Jones and her teammates are back in 11th place after the first two heats in their bobsleigh event. She has a lot of work to do.
But being in Sochi at all is a remarkable achievement. Much like Australian Jana Pittman, Jones actually started her career on another sort of track as a hurdler at the summer Olympics. She just missed out on a bronze medal in London.
