Vacant block turns into public urinal in Perth CBD during UFC 284

Rows of blokes are relieving themselves against a fence on an empty plot of land in the Perth CBD after getting on the beers at 6am.

Images from Sunday show rows of blokes relieving themselves against a fence at an empty plot of land off Wellington Street in Perth’s CBD.

It’s little wonder, with a copious amount of beer available to drink from 6am during the day’s festivities.

Pictures from inside the arena show what could be the world’s longest beer snake.

As for the main event, Alexander Volkanovski fell heartbreakingly short of becoming just the fifth fighter to hold two UFC titles simultaneously, losing to lightweight champion Islam Makhachev by a majority decision at UFC 284 at RAC Arena on Sunday.

Volkanovski did as he promised, snuffing out a series of Makhachev’s submission attempts and take-downs after coming up from featherweight to take the superfight.

Makhachev took Volkanovski’s title as the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world with the win, leaving the Australian to prepare to defend his featherweight title in the near future.

Volkanovski has his next opponent at featherweight locked in after Mexican Yair Rodriguez (16-3) submitted American Josh Emmett (18-3) in the second round of their interim title fight.

Rodriguez was too swift for Emmett and while he was taken down, the no. 2 featherweight found a way to get onto the back and lock in the rear-naked choke for the win.
