JESSICA Eye has defeated Leslie Smith via stoppage in the second round after Smith almost lost her left ear.

Nicknamed the ‘Peacemaker’, Smith was hit with a vicious right hook in the opening round of the UFC180 women’s bantamweight bout which split her ear.

With the ear dangling from the side of her head referee Herb Dean called for the doctor to assess the damage leaving them with no other choice but to put an end to the fight early in the second round.

Eye, ranked 6th in the UFC, claimed victory by TKO despite Smith’s protest, screaming to the crowd that she wanted to continue.

Smith plead with the doctor to let the contest resume but the reality of being one punch away from possibly ripping the ear entirely from her face was something the officials were not prepared to gamble on.
