UFC: Ronda Rousey’s next opponent takes trash talk to a new low

TRASH talk is an accepted part of the theatre that surrounds big fights these days, but Ronda Rousey’s next opponent sunk to a disgusting new low recently.

This isn’t ‘trash talk’, this is pathetic

THERE’S trash talk and then there’s this.

Ronda Rousey’s next opponent, Brazilian Beth Correia, took some over-the-top shots at the undefeated women’s bantamweight champ this week.

Correia used ammunition from Rousey’s autobiographical tell-all, where she went into detail about her addiction to painkillers and alcohol that followed her Olympic career in 2008.

“I want to knock her out, show to everyone that she is a lie,” Correia told Brazilian site Combate, according to Yahoo.

“She wants to stand up with me, let’s see. I want to humiliate her and show the world she has no MMA. She is focused on movies, books …

“Under pressure, she is proving weak. When her mom put pressure on her, she ran away from home. When she lost, it was because of drugs. That’s not a superhero. She is not mentally healthy; she needs to take care of herself. She is winning, so everybody is around her cheering her up, but when she realises she is not everything that she believes she is, I don’t know what might happen. I hope she does not kill herself later on (laughs).”

Correia may be the only one laughing at her suicide humour, given that Rousey was rocked at a young age when her father killed himself.

Rousey responded on Twitter with a stern warning for Correia, who is 9-0 in her career. The two will fight Aug. 1 at UFC 190 in Rio de Janeiro.

Correia could take some lessons in classy sledging from the greatest of all time Muhammad Ali who used wit and class to rile an opponent ahead of a fight.

“Joe Frazier is so ugly that when he cries, the tears turn around and go down the back of his head.”

To American Floyd Patterson: “I’ll beat him so bad, he’ll need a shoehorn to put his hat on”

And to his nemesis: “I’ve seen George Foreman shadow boxing and the shadow won.”
