The Rock stuns UFC star Themba Gorimbo with incredible surprise
The Rock has cemented his position as one of the nicest people on the planet by helping out a UFC fighter who was down on his luck.
The Rock has done the unthinkable, giving a huge helping hand to a UFC fighter who recently had just $7 in the bank.
In a heartwarming video that’s going viral on social media, act Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is seen creeping up behind UFC star Themba ‘The Answer’ Gorimbo.
The Zimbabwean had been recounting how The Rock had reached out to him on Twitter when he revealed he had just $7.49 in his account.
The Rock cheekily snuck up on Gorimbo and the two men embraced.
Gorimbo then showed The Rock the place where he was sleeping — a fold-out couch surrounded by his meagre belongings. And next to Gorimbo’s bed was a list titled “My Reason” an inspirational checklist of his motivations including making his children smile and for his village in Zimbabwe.
The Rock’s next crafty move was to lure Gorimbo to a house in Miami on the pretext he was introducing him to someone with “connections”.
But when Gorimbo noticed his family was in the picture frames throughout the house the gig was up. The Rock announced he had purchased the house for Gorimbo.
The UFC star was overcome but soon announced he had saved money for a house and instead would use those funds to buy a well for a village in Zimbabwe (he had also previously used his winnings to buy a well, despite having virtually no net worth).
The Rock then gave Gorimbo a tour of his new waterfront crib, which was already decked out with shirts and kicks. There was also plenty of food in the fridge including Cheetos, which Gorimbo wasted no time getting stuck into.
The men finished the tour by having a celebratory drink in the Miami rain, which The Rock explained was considered a blessing in the Polynesian tradition.
“It’s a pleasure and a privilege to finally look you in the eye and meet you, shake your hand,” The Rock said.
“Cheers to always taking care of people.”
Gorimbo, who defeated Takashi Sato by decision in May this year, has pledged to become a UFC champion.
Fans responded to The Rock’s gesture, with WWE star Bobby Lashley dubbing it “incredible” as the clip quickly racked up more than a million “likes”.
“This is so beautiful in so many ways. Cheers to kindness,” dancing crew Outta Puff Daddys wrote.
African actor Daniel K Daniel added: “Gets a house and all he can think about is who to help next... I’m not crying, you’re crying. Themba, you will become a champion!”
