The act that turned fans against Ronda Rousey
IT WAS a brief but significant moment in Ronda Rousey’s stunning defeat that even had Lady Gaga blowing up.
STAY humble.
That was the overriding sentiment after Ronda Rousey crashed both figuratively and literally to earth in a stunning defeat to Holly Holm in UFC 193 in Melbourne on Sunday.
Lady Gaga, of all people, led the vitriol towards one of the most famous athletes on the planet, disgusted at Rousey’s decision not to touch gloves with Holm pre-fight.
“THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR NOT TOUCHING GLOVES,” Gaga posted, in all caps, on Instagram.
Holm told news.com.au on Monday that the moment “didn’t bother me” but admitted: “It did get me a little fired up.”

Gaga was joined by countless more on social media who hit out at Rousey for snubbing her opponent in the traditional pre-bout show of respect.
"Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted." Matthew 23:12 Ronda Rousey should've touched gloves!

I'm a Rousey fan, but for someone who had bad sportsmanship up until she faced Holm, she had it coming. -smack talk -no touch gloves #Byeðð¼

Rousey refusing to touch gloves at the start made her look an even bigger joke after getting her arse handed to her

Seeing Ronda Rousey in the build up screaming in Holm's face, then refusing to touch gloves, it's so satisfying to see her get KO'd

When you decide later on to touch gloves with your face instead of your hands...https://t.co/v9l75Z5umi

I was going for Rousey till she didn't touch gloves. That girl needed to be humbled. #Holmes

Despite the lack of sportsmanship from Rousey, and the trash talk in the lead up the fight, Holm still checked to see if Rousey was OK after the second-round KO.
Holm’s actions, in stark contrast to Rousey’s, were described as “pure class”.

Rousey broke her silence since the fight on Monday afternoon, posting on Instagram: “I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support. I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine.
“As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back.”
While there has been support, the ridicule aimed at Rousey has been just as immense, with one video in particular going viral.
It shows an interview Rousey conducted with Jimmy Fallon, in which Rousey more or less predicted the way Sunday’s fight would go down, with the exception of one crucial detail.
“She’s the type of fighter you have to be very, very patient with,” Rousey told Fallon.
“I feel like she’s going to try to like keep distance and keep far away from me and get me frustrated to the point I’ll make a mistake and she can try to kick me in the head.
“But it’s not going to go like that. Not the way she wants.”
This is what the internet had to say about that... (Warning: Coarse language)
