Mark Hunt unleashes on the UFC over Brock Lesnar doping scandal

AFTER Mark Hunt delivered the UFC this almighty spray, Dana White’s organisation has attempted to defend themselves.

DON’T make Mark Hunt angry, you wouldn’t like him when he is angry. Unfortunately for the UFC, it is far too late for that.

The Australian-based heavyweight is still fuming over the Brock Lesnar doping scandal, after the American returned two positive pre-fight drug tests following UFC 200.

Speaking on The MMA Hour on Tuesday (AEST), Hunt did nothing to hide his feelings regarding the situation, calling for drastic action to be taken against “cheaters” if the UFC is to eradicate doping in the near future.

“Before the fight I was assuming he was cheating,” Hunt said.

“Look at him. There’s no way that guy makes 265 pounds. That guy is a gimp, he’s sticking needles in his ass like the rest of these cheaters. And the thing about that is, he’s sitting here saying ‘this is a fair place.’ Well, it’s not fair. These guys are cheating and they should be in court for it. (They should) lose all of their money if they’re cheating, because if I die in there, who’s going to look after my family.

“That’s corrupt s***, man. These motherf***ers should be penalised hard. Dirty, scummy, cheating scum. That’s how that monkey won his world title. He didn’t do it by doing it clean. He did it by cheating, just like the rest of these cheaters.”

Hunt called for half Lesnar’s purse after his loss at UFC 200.

Hunt said that before the interview, the UFC had still not contacted him in the wake of Lesnar’s positive test.

However, following his comments on The MMA Hour, a representative from the UFC told MMA Fighting Hunt had a “length conversation” with Vice President of Athlete Health & Performance Jeff Novitzky on Tuesday. The pair allegedly discussed Hunt’s concerns over the doping issue, and the possible management options moving forward. The UFC also “adamantly denied” knowing about Lesnar’s positive tests prior to the fight on July 9.

Lesnar twice tested positive to the anti-estrogen agent clomiphene, the same drug that saw Jon Jones pulled from the main event just a week out from the card. Neither fighter will be fined directly by the UFC, after the franchise announced they would leave financial sanctions up to the discretion of USADA and the Nevada Athletic Commission.

For Hunt, it is simply not good enough. Lesnar’s failed tests mark the third time Hunt has fought an opponent that has been later proven to be using a prohibited substance. In Hunt’s 2013 main event fight against Antonio Silva, an original draw was later ruled to be a “no contest” after Silva showed elevated testosterone levels in a post-fight drug test. Hunt’s last opponent before UFC 200, Frank Mir, was handed a two-year ban in April this year after he too returned a positive sample.

The 42-year-old Hunt said the UFC had to take a much firmer stand on the issue, or risk losing him to a rival franchise.

The New Zealand-born fighter is calling for the UFC to even the playing field for all athletes and impose greater penalties for potential drug users.

“The best outcome is if the company that I work for says, ‘you’ve been cheating, you lose all of your (fight earnings), and since it was cheating, you get fined. You get sued and you get a fine. You’re going straight to court, criminal court, because what you’ve done is an offence.’ That’s what I want done,” Hunt said.

“So that these guys who are cheating don’t have more incentive to do it, because they do it for financial gain. If you take all of that away, they get nothing.

“Make them banned for five or 10 years. There goes your career. Five, 10 years, you have no career left and not only that, you lose all of your money. You’re done as a fighter. That’ll stop you from doing it. That’s what I want to see done. I won’t be a part of any company who says ‘we don’t mind you cheating or doing this or that,’ otherwise then every monkey will be (cheating).”

Hunt also suggested the franchise may have even known about Lesnar’s use of performance enhancing drugs long before his addition to the biggest card in the UFC’s history, after their decision to grant him an exemption to the four-month testing window as he was returning from the WWE.

“What upsets me about that is, I’m just thinking maybe they knew,” he said.

“Did they know about this? Is that why they’re not doing anything about it? Did they give this f***ing fool an exemption for four months because they knew about this? Because surely if they knew about this, they don’t give a rat’s about any of us.”

As far as Hunt is concerned, it is up to Dana White and his franchise to make a move now — he has said his piece.

“I’ll go and work somewhere else,” Hunt said. “Like I said, I don’t give a s***.

“If we’ve got to sue their asses, well then f*** you, you’re going to get sued. You scummy c****. The problem is everyone these days is, ‘man, I want to get into the UFC.’ F*** the UFC. You’re s***. You motherf****ers don’t look after nobody.

“We’ll let this f***ing white piece of s*** f***ing stick needles in his ass and say, ‘oh, he’s going to take us all the way to the f***ing bank.’ Let’s give him f***ing millions of dollars and not worry about this motherf***er. You know what? F*** that and f*** your s*** company. Look at that for a contract. You can sue me on that, motherf***ers.”
