Mark Hunt knocks out Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night 52

IT WAS billed as one of the biggest heavyweight bouts of the year, and Mark Hunt did not disappoint — achieving what no man has before.

IT WAS billed as one of the biggest heavyweight bouts of the year, and Mark Hunt did not disappoint — achieving what no man has before.

The Super Samoan became the first man to knock out “The Ultimate Fighter 10” winner Roy Nelson in the UFC.

The two hulking units went punch for punch, until Hunt floored Nelson with a brutal uppercut in at the 3:00 mark of the second round.

To make Hunt’s achievement all the more amazing, he reportedly dropped a staggering 8.6kg in a single day to make the heavyweight limit, weighing in at 120kg.

When asked who he’d like to fight next, Hunt said: “Anyone in the top 10.”

UFC president Dana White said he didn’t know what would be next for Hunt.

“I need to talk to [matchmaker] Joe Silva and see what he thinks,” White said.

“They both really look good when they’re fighting guys outside of the top 10. But those guys in the top 10 give them both a lot of trouble.

“Stipe [Miocic] is a great athlete and he gave Roy a lot of trouble with his movement. Look at what happened in the JDS [Junior dos Santos] fight with Hunt. Those guys are good, but they have had trouble with the top, top guys.

“But when you hit that hard, anything can happen. As Hunt showed, all it takes is one shot with guys that hit as hard as they do.”
