Police told local news outlet Gaucha ZH the death is being investigated.

Falcao was a legend of MMA and was a pro fighter for nearly two decades, compiling a 40-20 win-loss record.

He contested one UFC fight against Gerald Harris, which he won via unanimous decision at UFC 123 in 2010.

However he was cut by the UFC soon after that victory after it emerged he had been arrested in the past for allegedly assaulting a woman outside a nightclub.

Known as “Big Rig”, Falcao joined Bellator two years after his UFC release and won a middleweight grand prix. But he came up short in a fight with Alexander Shlemenko for the vacant 185-pound title.

But after going 3-1 with Bellator, he was cut by the promotion after assaulting a woman in a gas station and being involved in a street fight.

Falcao then embarked on an international MMA career, competing all over the world for companies such as competed for KSW, M-1 Global and Fight Nights Global.

His death comes months after another MMA veteran Brian Gassaway passed away in October aged 49.
