Conor McGregor’s mega-fight with Jose Aldo is officially back on
IT IS the most heated rivalry in UFC and an epic Conor McGregor sledge has sent the sparks flying again ahead of the UFC 189 mega-fight.
UFC star Conor McGregor has landed a perfect sledge to his bitter rival Jose Aldo ahead of their highly anticipated UFC 189 fight.
Reports yesterday indicated Aldo suffered a broken rib while preparing for the biggest UFC fight of 2015 and was expected to pull the plug on the fight.
However, medical reports, confirmed by the UFC, have cleared Aldo of any major damage, confirming the main event fight will go ahead in Las Vegas on July 12.
Scans have shown Aldo suffered bone bruising to his ribs, but no major damage.
The injury apparently happened during a sparring session when a teammate nailed Aldo with a kick to his midsection, and the champion fell down in pain immediately before being taken to the hospital to be examined.
McGregor has a slightly different take.
“It turned out he just had a little period pain,” McGregor posted on Twitter today.

UFC issued a statement today to clarify the fight will be going ahead.
“In light of recent reports regarding the status of UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, UFC has received official medical confirmation from several doctors that Aldo did not suffer a broken rib,” the statement said.
“Following a review of the scans, it has been determined that the champion suffered a bone bruise to his rib and cartilage injury during training.
“With this news, Aldo has expressed that he has every intention of facing Conor McGregor at UFC 189.
“While Aldo has indicated that he will compete in Las Vegas on July 11, UFC has confirmed a contingency plan.
“No.1 featherweight contender Chad Mendes will face McGregor for the interim UFC featherweight championship in the event Aldo cannot compete.
“UFC remains committed to delivering the featherweight and the welterweight championship fights at UFC 189 during UFC International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
