Conor McGregor calls out Anthony Pettis despite looming featherweight title fight
CONOR McGregor’s featherweight title fight against Jose Aldo is set for May, but the polarising Irishman has set his sights on Anthony Pettis’ lightweight title.
CONOR McGregor’s featherweight title fight against champion Jose Aldo is still three months away, but the polarising Irishman has set his sights on Anthony Pettis’ lightweight title.
“I think it would be a great fight. Definitely, 155 is in my future. Anthony is phenomenal on the feet. He’s got good jiu-jitsu. I feel it would be a great fight. It’s a fight I have my eyes on,” McGregor said.
“As I grow, 155 will be more comfortable to get to. It’ll be less stress on the body.”
“The Notorious” believes training with UFC welterweights Gunnar Nelson and Cathal Pendred will be an advantage if he chooses to move up in weight.
“I have no problem going right up to welterweight to be honest,” said McGregor, who destroyed Dennis Siver on his way to securing a title shot against Aldo.
“We’ll see. I am young. I am 26 years old. We’ll see what opportunities present themselves.”
McGregor will face Aldo for the featherweight strap at UFC 189.
