Brock Lesnar shown to have failed secondary drug test at UFC 200

AFTER failing yet another drug test, the potential performance enhancing drug used by Brock Lesnar has been named.

Brock Lesnar allegedly failed a secondary drug test at UFC 200.

BROCK Lesnar has some serious explaining to do.

In the latest development of his doping scandal, the UFC announced the heavyweight fighter failed a secondary drug test — this time an in-competition test at UFC 200.

The promotion released a statement late on Tuesday (AEST), acknowledging Lesnar had tested positive on July 9 for the same substance that saw him fail an initial test conducted on June 28.

“The UFC organisation was notified today that the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Brock Lesnar that his in-competition sample collection from July 9, 2016, at UFC 200, has tested positive for the same substance as his previously announced out-of-competition collection on June 28, 2016,” the statement said.

The organisation also noted that despite a secondary test proving positive, and thus making Lesnar’s innocence less likely, the former WWE superstar would still be afforded the same legal review as any other athlete before any penalties were imposed.

Lesnar is facing a two-year ban from the UFC.

“It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. The Nevada State Athletic Commission also retains jurisdiction over this matter as the sample collection was performed at UFC 200 in Las Vegas.”

The drug Lesnar tested positive to is yet to be publically announced, and will allegedly only be revealed if the fighter himself chooses to announce it.

However, speculation has already started as to what the substance may be, with LA Times reporter Lance Pugmire claiming Lesnar was found to have used the same substance that saw interim UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones fail a test prior to the massive card.

Clomiphene is an anti-estrogen drug often used as a follow up to some steroids in order to stimulate testosterone production.

The 39-year-old Lesnar was originally notified late last week that he had tested positive to a performance enhancing drug in the lead up to the one of the biggest cards in the UFC’s history.

Releasing a statement to the Associated Press after the initial failure, Lesnar proclaimed his innocence, promising he would “get to the bottom of this.”

Even prior to defeating Aussie fighter Mark Hunt in the co-main event bout in Las Vegas, the possibility of Lesnar dabbling in prohibited substances had already been floated, with his opponent openly accusing him of being “juiced to the gills.”

Lesnar almost laughed off the issue ahead of the fight, declaring: “I’m a white boy and I’m jacked — deal with it.”

Now dealing with the ramifications of the failed test himself, Lesnar’s future in MMA is in doubt.

Hunt once again weighed in on the drama, responding to a provocative tweet by popular UFC reporter Ariel Helwani on Wednesday morning.

Dismissing any claims that the failed test may have been related to asthma medication, Hunt unleashed on the entire Lesnar training camp. Warning: explicit language.

Hunt had previously slammed his heavyweight rival after news first broke of Lesnar’s pre-competition test failure, and demanded drastic action from the UFC.

“I said (to the UFC), ‘If you don’t give me half his s**t (purse), I’m walking away from this company, I want out of here. This is rubbish’,” Hunt said.

“You (UFC) better do something. I already talked to the bosses. They better do something or I want out of here, I want a release from my contract. You guys are just making a mockery out of us, you’re making a fool out of me, you make me look like an idiot.

“I lost on that night to some f***ing cheat. There’s no way he could weigh 265 [pounds] like me — he was about 500 kilos, there was no f***ing way he was weighing in at my weight. It just makes a mockery of the whole sport, it makes a fool out of all of us, all the people who’ve paid money for top end fighting — now all they’ve got is a cheat against a guy who doesn’t cheat.

“It’s ridiculous, I think it’s rubbish and I think it’s time for the UFC to stand up. Otherwise I don’t want to be a part of this company and I think there’s a lot of fighters that understand.

“They give frickin’ (Nick) Diaz five years for marijuana — what about these clowns that are cheating? F***ing clowns that are caught doping for enhancement.”

The UFC is yet to announce what action will be taken against the American fighter.

Helwani also attempted to gain an insight from Lesnar’s camp on the most recent incident, however they declined comment.

On the other hand, Lesnar is scheduled to make a return to the WWE in late August, when he is due to take on Randy Orton at SummerSlam.
