Brazilian MMA star ‘shot dead’ by police in violent incident

The MMA world has been left speechless after it was confirmed a 34-year-old former UFC fighter has died after being shot by police.

An MMA fighter was killed following a violent altercation with military police in Brazil, reports claim.

Mauro Chaulet was shot in the city of Porto Alegre, according to local outlet Radio Guaiba.

The alleged incident occurred following a disagreement with a military police officer, who is claimed to have been off duty at the time, The Sun reports.

Chaulet’s female companion and the military police officer are also said to have been shot in the alleged altercation.

However, reports claim they both survived the alleged incident, which occurred last week.

The police officer is claimed to have been taken to hospital and underwent emergency surgery, but survived.

Shocking new details have since emerged. According to unconfirmed reports, Chaulet disarmed and shot the police officer in the groin after a verbal argument. It has been reported Chaulet was shot in the back after being chased by police while trying to drive away. He died at the scene.

The 34-year-old has previously been reported to have had run-ins with police in his home country.

Chaulet was reportedly represented by MMA Management company Team Goat Management.

A TGM Instagram statement following the reported incident said: “Unfortunately, today we lost another great person, victim of the brutal violence in Brazil that is repeated every day.

“You were special and will never be forgotten for us!!!

“RIP @maurochaulet”

Chaulet had 13 wins and nine losses on his professional MMA record.

His last three bouts all ended in defeat, the most recent of which was in May 2022 in the Cage Fury Fighting Championships.

Chaulet also featured in the Legacy Fighting Alliance, widely considered to be the UFC’s top development series.

Hie fought twice in LFA events streamed on the UFC’s Fight Pass app.
