US Open: Serena Williams’ daughter melts hearts with celebration

Serena Williams took care of business on Sunday morning, but it was her daughter’s celebration in the stands that really stole the show.

The US Open rolls on with third round action the flavour of the day on Sunday.

A host of big stars will hit the court as they look to move into the second week of play in Queens, New York.

Serena Williams remains in the hunt for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam while a former world number one will continue her fightback to the top of the tennis world.

WILLIAMS’ HEARTWARMING MOMENT

Serena’s daughter couldn’t contain her joy after her mum’s win.

Serena Williams showed once again why she is the master of coming back from losing the first set as she toppled Sloane Stephens in the third round of the US Open.

Stephens burst out of the blocks and had Williams on the backfoot in the opening set, but the 23-time Grand Slam winner bounced back.

After dropping the opening set, Williams flipped the script and advanced into the fourth round with a 2-6. 6-2, 6-2 victory.

The win sets up a tantalising rematch with Maria Sakkari.

Williams also takes her career record when losing first sets to 43-42, making her the only woman in the Open Era with a winning record when dropping the first set, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

But as good as the win was, it was after the game when fans on social media really fell apart.

Cameras panned to the stands where Serena’s daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., was overjoyed and revelling in the moment.

Social media users couldn’t hide their joy at watching the youngster calling out for her mum and celebrating with her dad Alexis.
