The US Open is back to its electric best this year as crowds return and one fan in particular has made her mark on the tennis major.

Heroes are made on the biggest stages and this has once again been proven at the US Open.

The final tennis major of the year has been revelling in the return of crowds with players constantly reacting to the cheers and jeers of a live audience after so long without fans in the stands.

The main courts at Flushing Meadows are known for producing some of the most electric atmospheres in the sport — and some viral moments to boot. The chicken dipper of 2018 became an internet sensation and now we have the US Open beer girl.

The young lady was caught twice by the cameras and twice chugged the nearest beer — much to the delight of everyone else in the stands.

She was front and centre at the third round, five-set thriller between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round of the tournament. Having already skolled one beer as the crowd went wild, the cameras settled on her again in the fifth set to more roars of delight.

“She’s going again,” one TV commentator said, bursting into laughter as she downed the second beer. “Well done.”

A video of the fan’s drinking exploits posted on the US Open Twitter page has more than 140,000 views.

The locals have certainly been making themselves heard in New York. After beating Aussie world No. 1 Ash Barty in the third round on Sunday, American Shelby Rogers shared how the crowd helped get her over the line in the three-set thriller.

“I feel like you guys have picked who you want to win and it’s happening,” she said. “So thank you for picking me tonight. You guys are in control of the tournament.”

Similarly, when 18-year-old Spanish wunderkind Carlos Alcaraz beat men’s third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas on Saturday, he said the crowd played a huge part in the result.

“Without this crowd I wouldn’t have the possibility to win the match,” Alcaraz said after winning 6-3 4-6 7-6 0-6 7-6. “I was down at the beginning of the fourth set so thank you to the crowd for pushing me on in the fifth set. Incredible feeling for me.”
