Rock god ‘unrecognisable’ in awkward Wimbledon interview

Fans have all been left saying the same thing after watching a rock icon endure an awkward TV ambush on his way to the royal box.

Rublev rages at himself again in Wimbledon loss

Rock god Dave Grohl looked unrecognisable as he rubbed shoulders with dignitaries and celebrities inside the Royal Box at Wimbledon on Wednesday morning.

The Foo Fighters frontman left fans all saying the same thing as he took up a seat alongside wife Jordyn Blum inside the All England Club’s iconic Centre Court.

Seeing the 55-year-old former Nirvana drummer looking nothing like the raging musician from his prime had plenty of his fans realising just how old they are.

Even more brutal than the age reminder, was an awkward interview he conducted on his arrival at the famous SW19 tournament.

The Sun reports fans were left cringing after Grohl appeared to be ambushed by national broadcaster the BBC as he made his way through the grounds to the stadium.

Asked by a reporter for his predictions on who will win, the Queens Of The Stone Age artist replied: “What?”

Quizzed a second time he repeated “What?” before adding on the potential men’s champion: “No clue.”

Then quizzed about who will win the women’s event he awkwardly added: “Couldn’t say.”

He was then mercifully left to walk on and enjoy the rest of the day.

Seeing the interview on social media, one fan wrote: “A real tennis fan there…”

While a second joked: “it’s times like these you learn that he wants to be left alone.”

A third commented: “Only there for the strawberries.”

And a fourth quipped: “Dave Grohl in a suit is weird.”

Another added: “There goes my hero.”

Grohl was far from the only noticeable celebrity in the box, which can only be accessed by official invitation as a guest of the Chairman of the All England Club.

According to the official dress code for the prestigious box, Grohl fit in perfectly.

“Protocol - dress is smart, suits/jacket and tie, etc,” the grand slam’s official website states.

“Ladies are asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them.”

Ex-Formula One world champion Sir Jackie Stewart and former England rugby captain Sir Bill Beaumont were also in attendance on Wednesday.

Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon, Sir Cliff Richard and Alastair Campbell were also spotted.

Grohl witnessed another dramatic day on Centre Court.

Proceedings began with defending women’s champion Marketa Vondrousova losing in round one to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, becoming the first reigning women’s champ to do so in 30 years.

Novak Djokovic was then in action, watched on by Ronnie O’Sullivan.

The Serb, 37, shook off his recent knee surgery to beat Vit Kopriva 6-1 6-2 6-2.

Grohl would have felt much more at home out on Court 2 where spectators witnessed an ugly meltdown by Russian star Andrey Rublev.

The world No. 6 has fans fearing for his wellbeing after he imploded against Francisco Comesana.

Rublev exploded as he was bundled out of the tournament in four sets as he smashed his racquet repeatedly against his knee in the third set.

Rublev has let his anger get the better of him repeatedly in recent years — and his latest outburst has prompted calls for change.

Because his outburst did not involve racquet throwing, he did not receive a code violation for the ugly act.
