Rafael Nadal is celebrating becoming a father for the first time

Rafael Nadal’s dream has come true with the tennis legend and wife Mery becoming parents for the first time with details emerging.

Tennis star Rafael Nadal has become a father for the first time at the age of 36.

The Spanish superstar’s wife Mery “Xisca” Perello gave birth in a private clinic in the Palma on Sunday, according to the Spanish press.

The Sun reports, the mother and baby are said to be “doing well”.

The couple have yet to make any official comment.

It was revealed in September the couple were expecting a baby boy.

Majorcan paper Diario de Mallorca, said: “Both the mum and her baby, born in the 37th week of her pregnancy, are doing well.

“The birth took place in a private clinic on the island where Mery had to remain under observation and rest completely in the last few weeks.”

She had been admitted to hospital at 31 weeks of her pregnancy and there were reports doctors were considering an operation.

While family rushed to be with Perello at the time, the 22-time grand slam champion was stuck in the United States ahead of the US Open.

The couple have not talked about their pregnancy in public and their happy news was only revealed in June when she was spotted with a baby bump following the French Open.

Perello was spotted wearing loose fighting clothing during the Champions League Final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Speculation grew and reached a pinnacle after appearing to be sporting a baby bump on a yacht as she enjoyed a holiday with Nadal.

Xisca and Rafa were together for 14 years before marrying in 2019 and have kept their relationship private, which is no mean feat for one of the biggest athletes in the world.

The name Sebastia, Sebastian in English and the name of Rafa’s father and great-grandfather, has been touted as the most likely for the couple’s child.
