Novak Djokovic’s coach Goran Ivanisevic tests positive to the coronavirus
Another domino has fallen in the Novak Djokovic saga, with coach and former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic testing positive.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic’s coach, former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic, has confirmed he has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Croatian, who triumphed at the All England Club in 2001, had come out in defence of the Serbian over his organisation of the ill-fated Adria Tour. The event had to be cancelled after one of the participants, Grigor Dimitrov, confirmed he had tested positive.

Ivanisevic defended Djokovic, who has also since tested positive, telling the New York Times everyone attacking the 33-year-old was “smart now” but that the event had been given government approval.
Now the 48-year-old coach has tested positive too, confirming the news on Instagram.
“Unfortunately after two negative tests in the last 10 days, I have just found out I have tested positive for COVID-19,” Ivanisevic wrote.
“I feel good and don’t have any symptoms.
“I would like to inform everyone who has been in contact with me that I tested positive and ask them to take extra good care of themselves and their loved ones.
“I will continue to self-isolate as I have been doing already.
“I wish everyone who got infected a speedy recovery.”
The event, which took place in front of crowds with little evidence of social distancing, was criticised by other players.
Australian Nick Kyrgios called the decision to stage the event “boneheaded”, while British No. 1 Dan Evans described it as “a poor example to set”.
World No. 3 Dominic Thiem also apologised for his role in the Tour.
But Thiem’s manager Herwig Straka lashedf out at Djokovic, laying the blame the World No. 1’s feet.
“Okay, the others took part, but he was very behind it,” Straka said. “Originally from honourable motives - the focus was on the charity concept. But it went in the wrong direction, was misused as a publicity show. You have to blame Djokovic for that.
“Everyone knows it was stupid. The only one who has to apologise is Djokovic because he staged everything.”
Djokovic did apologise earlier this week: “I am so deeply sorry our tournament has caused harm.
“Everything the organisers and I did the past month, we did with a pure heart and sincere intentions.
“We believed the tournament met all health protocols and the health of our region seemed in good conditions to finally unite people for philanthropic reasons.
“We were wrong and it was too soon. I can’t express enough how sorry I am for this and every case of infection.”

Novak Djokovic’s father quickly come to his son’s defence following Tuesday’s bombshell announcement, blaming the coronavirus outbreak at the Adria Tour on another tennis star.
Although Djokovic was the brainchild behind the controversial tournament, his father Srdjan was adamant Dimitrov was responsible for the outbreak. Srdjan suggested the Bulgarian got infected before the tournament, accusing Dimitrov of causing “great harm” to both nations.
“How did the infection come about? Probably because Dimitrov came sick, who knows where,” Srdjan told broadcaster RTL.
“He was not tested in (the Croatian city of) Zadar, but somewhere else. I don’t think that’s right.
“He brought great harm to you in Croatia, and to us as a family, and to Serbia.”
