If you were hoping to get a last minute ticket to the Wimbledon men’s final between Novak Djokovic, 37, and Carlos Alcaraz, 21, be prepared to shell out a small fortune.

American sports commentator Darren Rovell showed just how in demand a ticket to the final was with out of this world prices.

“Djokovic-Alcaraz Wimbledon Final will be the most expensive get-in finals tickets in the history of sports,” Rovell wrote on X.

“Right now, WORST SEAT for Sunday is more than $10,000.”

To put that into some even more outrageous context, that in Australian dollars equates to $14,800.

Wimbledon’s centre court has a capacity of 14,979 people which means that if every seat was that much, the grand total for the entire crowd would be $221.7 million.

That figure pales in comparison to what the winner will receive with the prize cheque for the victor coming in at a tick over $5 million after the total prize money for the tournament rose to be nearly $95 million.

The contest between Djokovic and Alcaraz has all the makings for an instant classic with the young Spanish star aiming for his second straight Wimbledon crown.

Djokovic on the other hand can create even more history as a win would net him his eighth Wimbledon title and give him his 25th grand slam victory.

A feat that would put him alone atop tennis’ mountain as he would surpass Margaret Court’s record of 24 slams.

For Alcaraz he can become the second man in the Open era after Roger Federer to win his first four major finals appearances and would join Bjorn Borg and Boris Becker as the only men with multiple Wimbledon titles aged 21 or younger.

Last year it was Alcaraz who reigned supreme after taking down Djokovic in a what was a nailbiting five-set thriller.
