Nick Kyrgios welcomes baby to the family

Aussie tennis star Nick Kyrgios is celebrating special news that will keep him and his family busy while he misses the Australian Open.

Nick Kyrgios is celebrating becoming an uncle for the second time.

The tennis star’s brother Christos on Wednesday shared the happy news that he and wife Alica have had a girl, who they have named Sofia Aurora Kyrgios.

In a joint post later that night, Alicia and Christos wrote: “A core memory. Sofia Aurora Kyrgios — welcome to this strange, wonderful world.”

The former Wimbledon finalist on Thursday shared a video of his other nephew George — Sofia’s big brother — writing “cutie” as a caption.

Alicia also shared a cute moment where George met his little sister for the first time during a hospital visit.

“First visit to meet baby sissy was a success. But he was way more interested in stealing mummy’s protein shake,” Alicia wrote.

The family’s big news came just a day after Kyrgios’ girlfriend Costeen Hatzi shared a photo on Instagram showing her posing with the tennis player holding her stomach.

She shared the photo with her 180,000 followers, writing that she was with Kyrgios on New Year’s Eve.

“NYE with my loves. Wishing everyone an incredible 2024 filled with love, happiness, success & good health,” she wrote.

The former world No. 13 on Thursday also shared a photo, which showed him posing in an elevator with Hatzi. The post was captioned “Family”.

The tennis star and Hatzi have been dating for more than two years.

Kyrgios recently suggested he is going to marry Hatzi, who has been sporting a diamond ring on her engagement for the past 18 months.

Kyrgios last year appeared to confirm their wedding plans when responding to a fan on Instagram by typing the wedding will be happening “very soon”. The post included a “heart” emoji and a “diamond ring” emoji.

He also has her first name tattooed on his left thigh.

Kyrgios also recently commented on a photo Hatzi posted by writing: “I can’t wait to life with you”.

He was asked recently if he has plans to have children.

“I would like (kids) asap. But Coz (Costeen) would like to wait a year and a half,” Kyrgios said on Instagram in November 2022, replying to a fan’s question.

Kyrgios is missing the 2024 Australian Open as a result of ongoing wrist injuries.

His 2023 season was ruined by a knee injury and wrist issues that saw him pull out of Wimbledon.

He was supposed to have plenty of time on his hands while the action unfolds at Melbourne Park, beginning from January 14, but he may soon be called in for uncle duties while his brother has his hands full with a newborn.
