Nick Kyrgios pockets eye-watering prize after Wimbledon final loss to Novak Djokovic
Nick Kyrgios may not have secured his maiden grand slam singles title, but the Australian will return home with an extra $1.8 million.
Nick Kyrgios fell agonisingly short of securing a maiden grand slam singles title on Sunday evening, but the Australian will return home with a substantially heavier wallet.
The 27-year-old, who has accumulated more than AU$14 million in prize money over the course of his career, will pocket a sweet $1.8 million following his eventful Wimbledon campaign, which ended with a 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 loss to Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic in the final.

Djokovic, meanwhile, earned $3.5 million for his 21st grand slam triumph, bringing his career prize money tally to more than $232 million. Not bad.
Kyrgios was scheduled to face Spanish phenom Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals on Friday evening, but the former world No. 1 withdrew with an abdominal injury.
The shock walkover not only booked Kyrgios’ place in the final, but gifted him a breezy $900,000.
