Thanasi Kokkinakis imploded during his third round French Open match on Friday night, losing in four sets as he fumed over an ongoing crowd act.

Cranky Kokkinakis cracks at umpire

Thanasi Kokkinakis imploded during his third round French Open match against Karen Khachanov on Friday, losing in four sets as he fumed at the umpire over the crowd.

The Australian was 4-2 up in the first set at Roland Garros, but was rocked by dropping four straight games to the No.11 seed to lose the set.

Kokkinakis then limply gave up the second 6-1, before he eventually recovered to win the third set to force a fourth, which he lost in a tiebreak 7-5.

Kokkinakis was on multiple occasions in the first two sets infuriated with the crowd on Simonne-Mathieu, which was guilty of a number of interruptions during the match.

The 27-year-old was only made angrier by umpire Katarzyna Radwan-Cho seemingly doing little to intervene.

After he was broken in the first set, Kokkinakis said to the umpire: “Say something when he’s yelling out in-between my serves. Maybe ‘merci’ or ‘stop?’ Yeah?

“Inbetween my first and second serve he’s yelling out. What happened there?”

The situation between Kokkinakis and the umpire got worse later when after another argument, he was put off by a member of the crowd again.

“Stop moving back there,” Kokkinakis said before turning to the umpire and yelling “do something!

“F**k’s sake, this chick is useless.”

Khachanov said: “I was getting ready for the fifth... he is one of the nicest guys on tour.

“The crowd was more for him. I don’t know what to do? You don’t love me?! It was a really crazy match.”

THIRD SEED PEGULA KNOCKED OUT BY MERTENS

Meanwhile, Belgian Elise Mertens sent American third seed Jessica Pegula crashing out of the French Open with a comprehensive victory in the last 32 on Friday.

The 28th seed cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory on Court Philippe Chatrier to reach the fourth round for the third time.

World number three Pegula, who only has two WTA Tour titles to her name, has still never passed the quarter-final stage of a Grand Slam tournament.

“I’m very happy to win in two sets. She’s a very good player,” said Mertens. The former Australian Open semi-finalist will next face the winner of an all-Russian tie between Anastasia Potapova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Mertens raced through a one-sided first set before Pegula raised her level in the second.

The players traded breaks early on before Mertens struck again for a 4-3 lead. She then saved three break points to move within one game of victory and quickly closed it out on her first match point.
