Dylan Alcott’s dream of a “golden slam” is alive after the Australian champ claimed his second Wimbledon quad wheelchair singles championship.

Alcott defeated Dutchman Sam Schroder 6-2 6-2.

It’s his third Grand Slam win this year, following the Australian and French Opens. Alcott needs to win Paralympic Gold in Tokyo and the US Open to complete the “golden slam”.

The world No.1 now has 14 major singles championships.

He posted on Instagram after the win “We did it @Wimbledon. I love you.”

“I’m cooked! That was hard,” he said after lifting the trophy.

“If that went three sets, I’m in big trouble. But I just love Wimbledon, I get emotional thinking about it here. To me, it’s been a privilege ... a dual Wimbledon champion!

“There were some Aussies here in the crowd. I heard my mate pop a bottle of champagne at the start of the second set! I thought, ‘I haven’t won yet - so tone it down!’”

It was the start of a perfect night for Australia at the All England Club with Ash Barty claiming the women’s singles title with a three-set win over Karolina Pliskova.

Alcott took to Instagram to show off the pair looking relaxed and all smiles ahead of their respective finals, with the post attracting plenty of supportive comments.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison led the way with his well wishes for the duo.

“Wishing you both all the best for your singles finals tonight,” said the Prime Minister.

“We couldn’t be more proud of you as Australians and of your achievements.

“Go Dylan, Go Ash! Aussie Aussie Aussie!”

Former US Open winner Sam Stosur said: “Good luck Dylan.”
