Dylan Alcott keeps delivering candid sex revelations
Dylan Alcott continues to speak openly and honestly about his sex life as the wheelchair tennis star, revealing how porn added to his concerns.
Australian wheelchair tennis star Dylan Alcott has opened up once again on his sex life, revealing how watching porn added to his insecurities about getting physical with a romantic partner.
The six-time Australian Open champion has been dating sexologist Chantelle Otten for more than two years and the pair have been forthright in sharing their sexual experiences to help break down misconceptions about what sex is like for disabled people.
Speaking to Good Weekend, Alcott said “oh yes” when asked if he is having sex often enough, adding “I’ve lucked out in that department” because of Otten’s profession.
Alcott also reflected on the lack of information available on sex with a disability when he was younger, pointing out the internet wasn’t exactly the best tool for someone in his position.
“Googling sex and disability, there was nothing there,” he said. “You’d watch porn and think, ‘Well, I can’t do that!’ That adds to insecurities you already have.
“But one thing I’ve learnt is that people can have sex in any way. And obviously, I must be doing something right if I’ve managed to lock down someone like Chantelle.”
Alcott believes it’s important to continue being open about his sex life, saying he and Otten are “proud to talk about it and break down those barriers”. And even though you’d think he’s immune to pressure having played tennis on the biggest stage and won all four grand slams, the 30-year-old admits there were plenty of nerves during his first time with Otten.
“The first time we had sex, I was extremely nervous,” he told Good Weekend. “I thought, ‘You’re doing it with the best!’
“But we’re both sex-positive. It’s important to me to talk about it.”

Speaking to Stellar Magazine last month, Otten raved about her sex life with Alcott and reaffirmed how important their relationship is for spreading the message about what sexual opportunities are available for other people with a disability.
“A lot of people think people with a disability don’t have sex but I’m having the best sex of my life and it’s important for me to say that,” she said.
“There are people out there who might have a crush on someone with a disability but aren’t confident to ask questions about it. They need to know that these sex lives are important and erotic and achievable, and they can build a life together.
“Dylan and I are quite private but it’s important to get the word out. For me, working with people and having them know I’m in a relationship with someone with a disability is great.”
Alcott told Stellar: “So many of the 4.4 million people in Australia with a disability struggle with dating and sex.
“I want to change the misconception that (disabled) people can’t have sex or be in relationships or fall in love. The only way to destigmatise it is to talk about it.”
Last year the tennis champion gushed about his girlfriend and the positive impact her job has on their relationship.
“I mean, look at me — I’ve, out of nowhere, got the best-looking, amazingly talented girlfriend who is a doctor of sex — that’s her job,” Alcott told ABC program One Plus One.
“I mean, am I not the envy of every human in the world?”
Alcott and Otten, who connected via social media after she visited one of his book readings, made their romance public in 2019. The 29-year-old has been on hand to witness some of the tennis star’s recent triumphs, including his 2020 Australian Open title and his maiden Wimbledon crown in 2019.
