Aus Open Day 3: Emotional Kyrgios comes back from the dead in thriller
Nick Kyrgios fell to the floor, buried his head in his hands and gave a vulnerable interview after his mind-blowing comeback victory.
Nick Kyrgios has produced a miracle to come back from the dead in a truly astonishing victory at the Australian Open.
Kyrgios faced two match points in the fourth set, but staring into the abyss of an early exit, he suddenly remembered he is one of the deadliest players in the world when he wants to be.
In a typical Kyrgios rollercoaster, he had to overcome the sizzling ball-striking of Ugo Humbert, his irate frustration at a malfunctioning net-cord device, an unimpressed umpire and his own mental demons to emerge with an unforgettable 5-7 6-4 3-6 7-6 6-4 win that sets up a salivating third round match with No. 3 seed Dominic Thiem.
“Honestly, if you were in my head, I was just thinking about all the s*** I was going to cop if I lost that match. I don’t know how I did that. I’m lost for words. That is one of the craziest matches I’ve ever played," Kyrgios said, before going deep in a fascinating post-match press conference.

His wild comeback came after Bernard Tomic fell apart earlier on Day 3.
Tomic's flop came after a crazy day of upsets where both the men's and women's draws were blown wide open with top-ten seeds dropping like flies.
It was smoother sailing for Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic earlier on Day 3 as they moved through to the third round.
