Aussies ruthlessly mock Novak Djokovic with hilarious memes after visa fiasco
As the Novak Djokovic visa debacle continues, we’re reacting in the most Australian way possible – by taking the absolute mickey.
Australians erupted this week over the Novak Djokovic vaccine exemption scandal.
But now it has emerged that the tennis champ’s visa has been cancelled and he is set to be booted back to Europe, leaving his Australian Open hopes in ruin.
Much of the fury has turned to comedy gold, with Aussies and tennis fans across the globe sharing hilarious memes poking fun at all the drama.
As expected, the geniuses from The Betoota Advocate came through with the laughs:

European budget airline Ryan Air also got in on the action, having a crack at the champ’s expense.

And even God couldn’t resist sticking the boot in, apparently.

While Prime Minster Scott Morrison avoided making any jokes, he also took to Twitter to double down on the decision.
“Rules are rules, especially when it comes to our borders. No one is above these rules,” he tweeted on Thursday morning.
“Our strong border policies have been critical to Australia having one of the lowest death rates in the world from Covid, we are continuing to be vigilant.”
Djokovic is expected to challenge the decision in Victoria’s courts, amid reports three other players with similar exemptions to Djokovic’s have already entered the country without incident.
Meanwhile, mystery remains around Djokovic’s original exemption, which is required from unvaccinated people.
He was believed to be relying on the fact that he has had Covid within the past six months, while some reports suggest a member of Djokovic’s team may have filled out the incorrect visa application for him, which does not apply to people who have received vaccination exemptions.
