Australian Open prize money 2023: How much players are set to earn for each round

The biggest names in tennis are set to take home a record-breaking amount this year, with the prize pool bigger than ever.

The world’s best tennis players are set to descend on Melbourne Park again this year, with the 2023 Australian Open beginning on January 16.

Awaiting the world’s best is the biggest prize pool ever seen Down Under with players set to pocket more than they have before.

A record prize pool of $AUD76.5 million is on offer this year, up 3.4 per cent on 2022.

Singles champions will take home $2.975 million, while singles semi-finalists will earn $925,000.

It is a $58 million total increase on what was offered to players twenty years ago.

There is more money across the entire Australian tennis season, with new tour events in Adelaide and Canberra, as well the United Cup in Perth, worth $22.5 million.

“It is critical to the continued success of the Australian tennis summer that we provide strong and relevant playing opportunities and ensure that the best players in the world are compensated appropriately,” said Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley.

Here’s the breakdown of the prize money on offer for each category, in every round (all in AUD).

Singles – men’s and women’s (per player)

Winner – $2,975,000

Runner-up – $1,625,000

Semi-finalist – $925,000

Quarterfinalist – $555,250

Round of 16 – $338,250

Round of 32 – $227,925

Round of 64 – $158,850

First round – $106,250

Doubles – men’s and women’s (per team)

Winner – $695,000

Runner-up – $370,000

Semi-finalists – $210,000

Quarterfinalists – $116,500

Round of 16 – $67,250

Round of 32 – $46,500

First round – $30,975
