Steinem was terrific at Group 1 level when only three lengths from Colette in the Empire Rose Stakes. She’ll relish the big class drop at Caulfield.

QUANTUM MECHANIC (Race 5, No.1 – $5.50)

Talented mare contested much tougher races than this for a while.

FESTIVAL DANCER (Race 6, No.12 – $3.90)

The only filly in the Sandown Guineas has won her past four starts, all at 1600m, and she has been strong through the line even when leading.

GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun) Form: 1114x

DECENT RAINE (Race 3, No.1 – $2.80)

Slightly awkward draw but she is a talented filly who was super impressive last week and looks well suited here

Value bet: BROOKSPIRE (Rosehill, Race 9, No.4 – $5)

SIMON MOY (NewsRacing) Form: 201x1

ACCOUNTABILITY (Race 2, No.4 – $2.50)

Was never catching winner last start but shapes well for this and drawn to do not work.

OUR PLAYBOY (Race 8, No.6 – $2.70)

Followed a strong Flemington victory with an eye catching run in the Cranbourne Cup when finishing strongly to run second. Looks ideally placed to bounce back

MATT JONES (Daily Telegraph) Form: 3451x

SOUTHERN LAD (Race 7, No.1 – $7)

He has had his knockers in the past but is well placed here and goes better at Rosehill than the poor record on paper suggests and he loves it wet.

CLINTON PAYNE (Racenet) Form: 16x52

SOUTHERN LAD (Race 7, No.1 – $7)

Superb performance when winning first-up and the form has been franked with Eleven Eleven winning The Warra. Loves wet tracks, can win again.

Value bet: SHARPE HUSSLER (Race 5, No.5 – $61)

TRENTON AKERS (Courier Mail) Form: 15635

MIAMI FLEISS (Race 8, No.7 – $4.80)

Query on the weather but is the class runner in the race. Trialled great on Tuesday morning so will have plenty of fitness on her side and has drawn inside.

Value bet: BLACK MAGNUM (Race 9, No.3 – $19)

ASCOT

JETT HATTON (Racenet) Form: 67114

GRACEFUL GIRL (Race 8, No.15 – $7)

The weight swing isn’t in her favour but she was just so impressive last time out behind Elite Street and is much better over 1200m. While she may not have won, the effort showed she’s more than capable of winning this and it’s worth noting she’s unbeaten in four tries over the distance. Willie Pike and Bob Peters took out last week’s feature and can chalk up another here with Graceful Girl.
